The study of Educational and Social Sciences (EGL), which is mandatory in the Teacher Training for Gymnasiums program, is oriented towards the practical requirements of teaching in gymnasiums (academic high schools). It imparts the basic profession-oriented competencies required for the teaching profession at gymnasiums, i.e., knowledge, qualifications, and attitudes, as well as initial experiences in school teaching practice under scientific guidance. In addition to educational science, school pedagogy, and didactic studies, the teaching also includes profession-related elements from the fields of philosophy, political science, psychology, and sociology. Students should be enabled to work scientifically and exercise the teaching profession in a socially responsible manner based on the acquired knowledge, abilities, and skills. The essential study goals of university education within the framework of Educational and Social Science Studies include the acquisition of job-related qualifications related to the workplace school and pedagogical action in school and teaching. This is substantiated, analyzed, anticipated, simulated, and in initial approaches also planned and tested with the help of scientific theories and methods, taking into account its prerequisites and conditions.
