In Osnabrück, Textile Design is regarded as a subject of cultural studies and the teaching of aesthetic and technical skills. Its special profile is determined by the interlocking of theory and practice. The subject has exceptionally good technical facilities. In addition, gender-specific research is linked with research fields in the history of technology and culture. Subject-specific courses are offered on topics such as the cultural history of European and non-European textiles and clothing, the aesthetics of textiles and clothing or textile production and textile ecology. Didactic courses and practical excursions to museums, companies or exhibitions round off the course. The degree course is organized in stages and begins with the Bachelor of Education and Teaching (6 semesters), followed by the Master's degree course 'Secondary Teacher Education (Haupt- und Realschule)' (4 semesters), for which a new application is required.
