The study of Media Art at Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design offers students an extraordinary artistic training with the latest media technologies and the opportunity to conduct research on the future of Media Art. The department represents HfG's artistic core with subjects including Digital Art/InfoArt, Film, Photography, Moving Image, Sound, and 3D Lab. An important aspect of the department is that the disciplines have no set curriculum - learning objectives, content, and processes are constantly redefined by each professor, giving the department a dynamic and innovative curriculum. The studios are state-of-the-art and fully equipped, enabling students to be diverse in creating new productions. The main objectives are for students to learn technical skills to create media art and develop their aesthetic judgment. The department has remained true to HfG's founding rector Heinrich Klotz's original vision of establishing a long-term "electronic Bauhaus" at HfG.
