📋 Program Hakkında

The Slavic Studies/Eastern European Studies program with a specialization in Polish Studies compares different Slavic languages, literatures, and cultures with each other and with non-Slavic language and cultural circles. The Polish specialization focuses on Poland's literature, culture, history, and language. Students learn about cultural contexts and conflicts that shape Europe as a region, how the Polish language has changed over time, the contexts of Polish literature and its relationship to neighboring countries' literatures, and how the centuries-long German-Polish neighborhood has shaped language, literature, and culture. Students become familiar with modern literary and cultural theories and learn to analyze linguistic and cultural phenomena using methodological-theoretical approaches. They acquire excellent language skills in Polish and basic knowledge in a second language (Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian, Russian, or Czech). The program offers three profile options starting from the third semester: Literature and History, Linguistics, or Philology (Language and Literature Studies).
