This module covers protein chemistry, focusing on protein structure, enzyme engineering methods, and reaction mechanisms. Students learn about the structure and composition of proteins, including stereochemistry, side chain properties, structural systems, and non-protein components. The course also covers enzyme screening, protein engineering techniques (rational design, directed evolution, saturation mutagenesis), and coenzymes and reaction mechanisms. The module is worth 2 ECTS credits with 30 lecture hours per week. Assessment is through a written examination.
