📋 Program Hakkında

The Area Studies program focuses on area-specific issues that are gaining importance in science and politics. It aims to explain cross-country cooperation, conflicts, or political movements in their regional context. The program connects the analysis of specific areas with the examination of collective identity formation processes. Students learn the theoretical foundations of identity formation and analyze these processes using examples from different regions (Asia, Latin America, Baltic Sea Region/Eastern Europe). The goal is to provide students with the analytical and theoretical basis for in-depth scientific engagement with Area Studies. Graduates are qualified for careers in humanities, social sciences, and political science, including positions in political institutions at state, federal, and international levels, administration, journalism, civil society organizations, NGOs, business, development cooperation, international organizations, foundations, foreign cultural policy, and diplomatic service.
