📋 Program Hakkında

This is a dual-degree German-French program in American Studies. Students spend half of their study time at JGU Mainz and half at the Université Bourgogne Europe (UBE) in Dijon, France. The program focuses on the language and cultural space of the USA and its global influence. Students study American literature, culture, politics, history, society, and geography. The program covers immigration history, identity issues, traditions, values, and political and religious movements in the USA. Students also examine the differences between America's self-image and external perception, and compare ideas and discourses between the USA and Europe. At UBE, the program is complemented by courses in British Studies. The Obama Institute for Transnational American Studies at JGU Mainz offers expertise in interculturality, transnationalism, and interdisciplinarity, with focus areas including Early American Studies, Indigenous Studies, Life Writing/Life Sciences, Political & Intellectual History, Film & Media Studies, Religion and American Culture, and Materiality. This international program must be combined with French/Lettres modernes (B.A.) and results in a double degree: Bachelor of Arts (Germany) and Licence (France).

✅ Giriş / Kabul Koşulları

* Sufficient French language skills (typically demonstrated through five years of school education with a minimum grade of 'sufficient' or 5 points) * Alternative French language qualifications: graduation from a French-speaking school, Abi-Bac, or French Baccalauréat * Willingness to spend half of the study time in France * Interest in getting to know French culture and people * Enjoyment of new experiences * Enthusiasm for the French language * Initiative and self-organization skills * Compulsory placement test for new students enrolling in the bachelor's degree program
