Bildungsinformatik (Educational Informatics) is offered as a special extension subject in teacher training programs at the Ludwigsburg University of Education. The program focuses on preparing teachers to teach computer science in schools, emphasizing the importance of informatics education for students to understand and evaluate our digital world. The program highlights that computer science education leads to different career paths, teaches problem-solving skills, supports other sciences, and is important for the economy. Since 2016, computer science has been promoted as a school subject by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports in Baden-Württemberg, with educational plans for computer science courses in secondary education.
