The Master's program in Textile and Surface Design at Kunsthochschule Berlin Weißensee focuses on 'Material & Style'. Students develop their position as designers - under artistic, scientific and technological aspects - and are enabled to implement this in a socially relevant, future-oriented context. The program builds on the Bachelor's degree in Textile and Surface Design and is divided into two focus areas: one focuses on the aesthetically and technically contemporary use and development of materials and surfaces; the other places design work in the context of contemporary styles and develops it in the field of tension between personal identity and social process. The program aims to develop substantial connections between material knowledge and competencies in implementing material-related projects, with the ability to comprehensively analyze the design and content implications of materials and to creatively use and innovatively expand their potential.
