This English-language degree program at the University of Potsdam is unique in Germany, offering the opportunity to study Public Administration and Public Policy in an international perspective. Students study at one of the most renowned universities in political and administrative science, in an attractive academic environment near all levels of government and administration in practice. The program has an interdisciplinary orientation allowing students to study political and administrative science topics from various disciplinary perspectives. During studies, students engage with core topics in political and administrative science research from an international and comparative perspective, focusing on empirical projects in administration, public policy, management, and governance using qualitative and quantitative methods. Students build knowledge about modes of governance, public administration, structures and development of political systems in the 21st century, and the role of civil society interest groups in national and international contexts, while gaining insight into underlying legal frameworks. Elective modules allow students to set their own focus on areas such as modernization of state and administration, digitalization, global crisis management, policy field analysis, and democracy research.
