📋 Program Hakkında

This is a joint degree program in Translation and Communication Technologies (TCT) offered by Heidelberg University in cooperation with TH Mannheim. Students learn to translate German-language texts into English as well as English-language texts into German, with particular attention to technological aspects. The program combines translation studies at Heidelberg University's School of Translation and Interpreting (IÜD) with computer science, automation, and communication technology taught at TH Mannheim. The program was created to meet the growing demand for technical translators trained in both applied linguistics and technology. Research areas include discourse and cognition, contrastive linguistics, lexicology and terminology research, with a focus on terminology research and translation technologies. Graduates can work in technological LSP translation, technical documentation, localization of software and websites, and multilingual web-publishing.
