The degree programme in Language and Textual Studies focuses on linguistics, literary and cultural studies, and the study of linguistic, textual and cultural sign systems. Students can focus on German, English, Romance or Slavic studies and emphasize media studies or digital humanities. The program includes a compulsory internship for practical experience. The programme comprises three module areas: A) Core modules (introductory lectures on media semiotics, academic research and writing, and foundational modules), B) Compulsory elective modules (where students choose two subjects from linguistics, literary studies, cultural studies, media studies or digital humanities), and C) Foreign languages and work experience (including two foreign languages and a three-month internship). Graduates are prepared for careers in areas such as analysis and preparation of textual materials, processing in archives or databases, and preparation of texts in press and public relations contexts.
