📋 Program Hakkında

This programme is the only three-year doctoral programme on wood technology in Germany. As part of the programme, students will study various aspects of wood science, including wood preservation and modification, wood-based composites, wood anatomy and wood chemistry. The latter involves the functionalisation of individual cell wall polymers and modified wood matrices. The programme also involves microbiological research into wood-destroying fungi, focusing on their genetics, colonisation strategies and decay processes. The programme also covers the utilisation of forest products, bridging the gap between forestry and wood science. The core of the programme is research work in the broader field of wood sciences, with research projects in the fields of wood and fungal biology, wood preservation, wood chemistry, wood products, wood technology and wood-based materials (composites). It focuses on students' independent research work, leading to a significant scientific contribution in their fields. Students must participate in classes, practical courses and internships designed to train them for leadership positions in the woodworking industry and scientific research institutes. The programme has an international focus and is conducted entirely in English.
