Visual Communication has evolved from traditional contexts between newspapers, magazines, books, and posters into an applied art that permeates and shapes many areas of life. The program at HBK Braunschweig focuses on developing creative personalities with the goal of being prepared for future cultural, economic, and social changes. The artistic-design course features a two-semester foundation study, offers various practice-oriented projects, and provides opportunities for individual specialization. Students can specialize in Typography, Photography, Digital Media, Conceptual Design, or Illustration in specially equipped studios. They can either focus on one of these areas over several semesters or explore the entire spectrum of study focuses. Graduates work in the media and advertising industry as photographers, illustrators, and graphic designers, taking on design tasks for museums, galleries, libraries, etc., designing books and public communication for companies and public institutions. The Bachelor's degree opens the way to subsequent Master's studies.
