Philosophy as a science, unlike specialized sciences, is a discipline not limited to specific areas and only partially working with established procedures. It aims at the foundations and scope of discursive knowledge, meaning, and will formation, and systematically employs alternative methods in both theoretical and practical terms. Reflection on these procedures is an essential component of philosophical work. Knowledge of the history of philosophy is essential for this. Factual-systematic and historical-critical work require and promote each other. Graduates in philosophy should be enabled to cope with demanding theoretical or practical decision-making situations in a reflective manner and with analytical thoroughness. The teaching degree program in Philosophy aims to enable students to master selected basic concepts and procedures of philosophy in their context in an independent manner. The program is structured into thematically related subject areas called modules, each concluded with an examination.
