📋 Program Hakkında

In Turkology studies, you will explore the language, literature, and culture of Turkic peoples in past and present. You will encounter a linguistic and cultural diversity that is unparalleled: Turks, Kazakhs, Uzbeks, Uyghurs, Tuvans - the Turkic peoples encompass a cultural and linguistic area from Southeastern Europe through the Middle East, Central Asia, and Russia to China and Mongolia. The program includes linguistic, literary, and historical courses. You will read, understand, and interpret literature, engage with history and historical references to politics and society, and analyze language and its effects. You will also learn one or more foreign languages or deepen your existing knowledge. Turkey and Turkish language have a special position due to their historical, cultural, and geopolitical significance, as well as their connections to Germany. At JGU, you will also study other Turkic peoples and general Turkology. The program is structured into four main areas: language acquisition and practical application, history, literature and culture, and linguistics.
