The aim of the Physics teaching degree program for Gymnasiums is to provide a professionally qualifying, scientific and practice-oriented didactic preparation for teaching at Gymnasiums. The program covers mechanics, thermodynamics, electrodynamics, optics, atomic and molecular physics, quantum mechanics, and topics from applied physics. The study also includes introductions to electronics and computer-assisted physics. A large part of the study consists of practical courses with physical experiments. In the 9th/10th semester, an elective module can be used for individual specialization. Depending on availability, one of the following courses can be taken: astronomy, solid state physics, nuclear and elementary particle physics, plasma physics, environmental physics, or bio and nanophysics. The didactic methodology and social competence is taught in practice-oriented courses conducted in cooperation with gymnasiums. Overall, students gain broad knowledge about physics and its teaching in the classroom.
