The Bachelor's program in Physics provides theoretical and practical foundations of classical and modern physics and its mathematical-scientific neighboring disciplines. You will gain the ability to apply the acquired knowledge and skills to fulfill professional tasks in the field of physics - and to deal critically and responsibly with the acquired knowledge. The program is fundamentals and research-oriented and forms the basis for a consecutive Master's program in Physics or another (mathematical) scientific discipline. In the first two semesters, you can expect an introduction to classical physics - topics here are mechanics and heat (first semester) and electromagnetism and optics (second semester) - as well as comprehensive basic training in mathematics. From the third semester onwards, quantum physics follows, followed by molecular and solid-state physics, thermodynamics and statistics, and modern atomic physics. You will also receive training in numerical physics (computational physics) and physical measurement technology. The study program is structured so that physics topics are covered in a combination of experimental physics and theoretical physics. Practical courses on all subject areas support your education. The bachelor thesis concludes the studies.
