📋 Program Hakkında

The Philosophy/Ethics B.Ed. program is a teaching degree program for secondary schools. It consists of two major subjects (scientific main subjects) and pedagogical additional studies. The program requires 180 credit points (ECTS) in total, with a regular study duration of 6 semesters. Philosophy/Ethics can be combined with Biology, Chemistry, German, Geography, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, and Sports. Combinations with Art and Music are also possible through partner universities. After completing the Bachelor of Education and subsequent Master of Education, graduates can teach at general secondary schools, community schools, and vocational schools following a preparatory service period.

* Higher education entrance qualification (Abitur) or equivalent * Subject-restricted higher education entrance qualification (not Fachhochschulreife) * Delta examination of the University of Mannheim (for holders of a Fachhochschulreife) * Recognized advanced vocational training or vocational training with professional experience and aptitude test * Participation in the teacher orientation test ("Career Counselling for Teachers" (CCT)) according to §60 of the State Higher Education Act * Note: Latin proficiency (Latinum) is required for the preparatory service (Referendariat) in Philosophy/Ethics teaching and should be completed during studies if not already obtained in school

* German language proficiency at minimum C1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) * For graduates of German-speaking schools: Higher education entrance qualification is sufficient proof * For graduates of non-German-speaking institutions: Separate language certificate required regardless of nationality
