Computer-assisted modeling, analysis, and simulation of physical and technical systems in engineering is called Computational Engineering. The Computational Engineering programme at the Technical University of Darmstadt is interdisciplinary in its approach. It represents the cooperation of the departments and study fields of Mathematics, Mechanics, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, and Computer Science. The first four semesters teach the fundamentals of Mathematics, Computer Science, and Engineering involved in this field of study. In their third semester, the students choose one of five majors: Applied Mathematics and Mechanics; Civil Engineering; Mechanical Engineering; Computer Science; Electrical Engineering and Information Technology.
