The Bachelor's program in Musicology (60 LP) provides general knowledge in three music-related research and teaching areas: Historical Musicology, Music and Media, and Ethnomusicology. In short, the program contextualizes music historically, medially, and globally. The broad setup of musicology in these three areas is a nationwide rarity. The program creates and imparts knowledge about composers and works of European music history, non-European music cultures, music and globalization, popular music, musical media cultures, as well as acoustics and instruments. Many elective components allow for study according to one's own special interests and good adaptation to the second subject. An optimal supervision ratio enables project-based work, often in small groups. Excursions and cooperations in Halle (MDR; Händel House; Bühnen Halle) and the surrounding area (Leipzig: Gewandhaus; Weißenfels: Heinrich-Schütz-Haus) are optimal pathways for the time after studies.
