The Midwifery Science program at the University of Rostock Medical Faculty is a dual primary qualification program that started in the winter semester 2020/21. The 7-semester program prepares students for the diverse and responsible field of midwifery through close integration of theory and practice. The program combines three learning locations: University Medical Center Rostock, practical training facilities, and Skills Lab. Students receive theoretical and practical teaching at the University Medical Center Rostock, where they can practice their theoretical knowledge in a 'protected error-tolerant space' using simulators, with actors, and in peer groups. Students receive tariff-bound training compensation during their studies through an apprenticeship contract with one of the cooperating clinics.
