The Franco-Romance Studies/French program focuses on the scientific study of languages, literature, and cultures of French-speaking countries. This includes not only France but also numerous other countries across four continents where French is an official language (e.g., Belgium, Quebec in Canada, Cameroon), a central cultural and traffic language (e.g., Morocco), or a minority language (e.g., in various Canadian provinces). The program provides high-level French language competencies necessary for future school and non-school activities. For students pursuing teaching careers in schools, subject didactics modules complement the diverse and interdisciplinary teaching and learning profile of the Bremen Franco-Romance Studies/French program. The program also offers the possibility to combine Franco-Romance Studies with Hispanic Studies as a profile and complementary subject study, which provides numerous options for future professional activities as a Romance scholar.
