The one-year Master's program in Archaeology and Cultural History of the Near East at the Institute for Archaeological Sciences of Johann Wolfgang Goethe University Frankfurt am Main follows a four-year Bachelor's program. The course includes five modules - four compulsory and one elective module - with a focus on scientific and professional training elements. The program imparts in-depth subject and methodological knowledge and serves to practice good scientific practice. Students are guided to make their own scientific contributions in written and oral form and to present them to the university public. The aim is to develop a holistic picture appropriate to the respective question, possibly also with the inclusion of own work on and research into the extensive written tradition of ancient oriental cultures. The goal of the program is to sharpen a research and science profile that is not only relevant for further work in teaching and research. In addition to 'classical' forms of teaching and examination, oral performances are in the foreground - conception and design of courses, extensive oral contributions in academic teaching, lectures. Graduates of the program have the opportunity to pursue a doctorate in Archaeology and Cultural History of the Near East.
