Modern ships contain more complex engineering than any other means of transport. This degree program offers three majors: 1) Mechanical Engineering for Ships - combining Marine Engineering and Mechanical Engineering to ensure technical perfection before ships leave port; 2) Ship Operation Engineering - covering propulsion, steering, energy supply, and environmentally friendly waste water disposal; 3) Industrial Plant Engineering - focusing on setup, operation and maintenance of complex plants and installations to make industry more sustainable. The program length varies by major: Ship Operation Engineering takes 8 semesters (with the first two spent at sea), while Mechanical Engineering for Ships and Industrial Plant Engineering take 7 semesters.
