The dual Bachelor's program in Social Work at DHSH offers a comprehensive education combining theory and practice. During the 3.5-year program, students acquire extensive specialized knowledge, diverse competencies, and develop their professional attitude as social workers. The curriculum covers scientific theories and findings in social work as well as topics from related sciences such as psychology, pedagogy, and law. Students apply their acquired knowledge practically in various fields of social work. The program enables graduates for professional practice in social work and prepares them for potential master's studies. The focus is on a generalist education in social work rather than specialization. Students can choose elective modules in areas such as social management, digitization, and artificial intelligence. The program follows a block model with alternating 10-week theory blocks and practical phases. Upon completion, graduates receive 210 ECTS credits and meet all academic requirements for state recognition as social workers according to § 2 (1) SobAG.
