The exMedia Lab is a workspace for transdisciplinary and transmedia projects and the exploration of materials at the interface of analog and digital realities. These realities, along with their technologies and possibilities, are explored through reflective thinking and action. The lab supports students' projects and experiments through consultation and provision of various technologies, accompanying the development of open questions in the process. The exMedia Lab promotes and practices critical thinking, collective work, and the development of personal responsibility in a social environment and in dealing with technologies. The lab offers technologies and possibilities including: experimental material processing/DIY technologies (e.g., laser cutter, small milling machine), handling of biological media (plants and other organic elements), practice of (artistic) publishing and printing (risography, linocut, screen printing, bookbinding, zines), prototyping (electronics/mechanics/kinetics), handling of other materials and technologies (e.g., ceramics, tufting), and three digital workstations (e.g., with graphics programs, 1 x Unreal Engine). Additional themes include speculation/worldbuilding/science fiction, critical thinking, artistic research, resource management/sustainability/re-use in artistic practice, transfer and transformation between digital and physical systems, aspects of archiving and collecting, and questions related to installation and exhibition conception and construction.
