The study of Portuguese as a major qualifies students for theory and method-guided analysis of the Portuguese language and its literature from the Middle Ages to the present. These are placed in the context of other European languages and literatures. Students can choose either 'Linguistics' or 'Literary Studies' as their specialization profile. During their studies, they learn to work independently in an academic manner and to present results confidently in both German and Portuguese, both orally and in writing. In addition, they acquire communicative, cultural, and media competencies as key qualifications for various professional fields.
