📋 Program Hakkında

The Bachelor's program in English: Linguistics, Literatures, and Cultures aims to enable students to communicate competently in English-speaking cultures, with an estimated 1.5 billion speakers of this global language. The program focuses on mastering written and spoken English and developing a fundamental understanding of modern linguistics. Students acquire comprehensive knowledge of various text types from target cultures, including literary texts, specialized texts, and everyday conversations. The program also enables students to understand intercultural and transcultural contexts. It offers comprehensive training in linguistics, literary studies, cultural studies, and language practice. The linguistics modules provide a solid foundation in English linguistics, covering phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, and discourse analysis. In literature and cultural studies, students engage with literary texts from different periods and regions of the English-speaking world. Cultural studies modules provide insights into the cultures of Great Britain, Ireland, North America, and other English-speaking regions. Language practice modules aim to improve students' oral and written skills. A mandatory study abroad period in an English-speaking country is an integral part of the program (six months for major, three months for minor). The program concludes with a final module including a colloquium and bachelor's thesis.

* Advanced English language skills (Level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference) are required at the beginning of studies * For the Master's program in Translation Science and Technology, a certificate of C1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages is required
