📋 Program Hakkında

The consecutive Master programme in Anthropology offers a theoretically and empirically well-founded and in-depth training in Social and Cultural Anthropology. The program predominantly studies non-European lifeworlds comparatively with the goal to understand them descriptively. In a globalised world, Anthropology plays a special role as a comparative discipline in the humanities that looks at the variety of human ways of life and cultural perspectives. The subject of the programme is the advanced study of cultural processes and dynamics in a globally connected world, without losing sight of the local and emplaced dimensions of everyday life. The regional foci lie on Southeast Asia, South Asia and Oceania, but other world regions and Western societies are also covered under the programme's comparative scope. The Master programme deepens theoretical, methodological and regional knowledge, while it equips students with the tools necessary to conduct independent scientific research, tackle complex problems, and carry out in-depth analyses of socio-cultural issues.

✅ Giriş / Kabul Koşulları

* BA or equivalent university degree in cultural/social anthropology, or a degree in a comparable field (sociology, area studies, philosophy, geography) with at least 70 credit points acquired in anthropologically relevant seminars * Letter of motivation explaining specific interest in the program, thematic and regional areas of interest, engagement with anthropological theory and methodology during BA studies * Transcripts of BA studies proving familiarity with anthropological methods and theory

🗣 Dil Gereksinimleri

* English proficiency: at least level B2 according to CEFRL (not required for native speakers) * TOEFL: minimum score of 72 (internet-based) * IELTS: minimum score of 5.0 * Certificate of language centre of Heidelberg University with "good" (2.0) or better * B-level proficiency or higher in one more foreign language other than German or English * Note: Applicants with a degree from a university whose language of instruction is English and who have written their BA thesis in English do not need to provide TOEFL or IELTS scores
