Dentistry is oral medicine. Students of dentistry are comprehensively trained in the medical tasks of maintaining the health of the masticatory system as well as in diagnosis, therapy, and care of patients with dental, oral, and maxillofacial diseases, both theoretically and practically-clinically with the latest methods in one of the most modern dental clinics in Germany. The main guiding principle of dentistry studies at the University of Greifswald is connected with research and teaching projects in Community Dentistry and Medicine. Oral health and disease are linked in many ways to general medical questions of health and illness - but social and socio-psychological aspects of healthy and sick people also play a decisive role. The program focuses on providing students with a deep understanding of health and disease from the beginning, considering not just the tooth or oral cavity but the sick person and the various conditions of health and illness.
