Medical Informatics is an interdisciplinary program offered as a collaboration between Heidelberg University and Heilbronn University of Applied Sciences since 1972. The program focuses on developing information technologies for healthcare, addressing challenges in the medical profession and driving innovations in the healthcare sector. The field includes methodical developments and software engineering for diagnosis and therapy, simulation and modeling for individualized medical treatment, and development of new procedures in E-Health and Telemedicine. Research areas include medical image processing, patient-oriented decision support, and IT solutions for medical research. Students benefit from both the practical orientation of a university of applied sciences and the quality of a university education.
