The Master's program in History at RUB focuses on understanding and assessing historical contexts. It allows students to specialize in various fields including early modern period, antiquity and the middle ages, specific regions (Eastern Europe, North America, Turkey), systematic research (economic history, gender history, history of the Ruhr/social movements), and interdisciplinary research. The program offers opportunities for German-French double degrees and specialization in Women's and Gender History. Students develop research theses, engage in discussions of historical topics, and examine historical issues that remain relevant today. The program requires advanced language skills and the ability to work with challenging research contexts.
