Philosophy as a discipline aims at fundamental reflection on human life, unlike specialized sciences that focus on specific areas. It targets the development of basic concepts and procedures necessary for successfully addressing problems and communicating results effectively. The program enables students to master selected fundamental concepts and procedures of philosophy independently. The study program emphasizes both systematic-factual and historical-critical work, which mutually require and promote each other. Graduates in Philosophy should be able to handle demanding cognitive problems and decision-making situations with analytical thoroughness. The teaching degree program prepares students for teaching philosophy, with a special focus on philosophizing with children and young people. Students learn to initiate and actively shape learning and educational processes in philosophy, relating academic thinking patterns to everyday questions.
