📋 Program Hakkında

The Cinematography program at HFF focuses on the art and technology of film camera work. Students learn comprehensive knowledge of film camera technologies while developing aesthetic competence as artists of light. The program emphasizes narrative content examination and team-building skills. The curriculum covers various formats including fictional and documentary storytelling, music videos, advertising, and art films. The program acknowledges the increasingly international nature of the profession and the growing role of digital content and computer-aided modification (VFX). The department particularly encourages women to discover this profession. The curriculum is divided into core studies and main studies. Core studies provide a foundation in film history, technology, image design, lighting design, shot selection, camera movement, documentary camera work, and image analysis. Main studies are practice-oriented with specialized workshops addressing technical and aesthetic tasks, including image design, lighting design, theory of cinematography, genre seminars, documentary camera work, television production, stereoscopic film (3-D), and VFX. Graduates work in diverse fields including fiction and documentary films for cinema, television and video, as well as commercials and other creative visual media. The cinematographer collaborates with directors and production designers to create the optical design of films, requiring both artistic and technical skills throughout all production phases from story exploration and planning to post-production.
