📋 Program Hakkında

The Master's degree program Chinese Studies with an Optional Focus is unique within Germany. It combines Chinese studies with a specialization in one of several subjects: English and American Studies, History, Sinology, Economics, Development Economics and International Studies, or Political Science. The Institute for Chinese Studies in Erlangen offers an informed view of Chinese history and literature, global history, history of science and technology, as well as the history of cultural exchange between Chinese-speaking countries and the West. The degree program covers intensive Chinese language classes, including the translation of academic texts from Chinese. The Master's degree program is international – the teaching language is English – research-oriented, and encourages interdisciplinary working. The standard length of study is four semesters with a total of 120 ECTS points, with at least half (60 ECTS) derived from modules in Chinese Studies and 30 ECTS from the master's thesis.

* Minimum degree required: A degree including at least 70 ECTS in Chinese Studies or a related degree including at least 60 ECTS for Chinese Studies (of which at least 20 ECTS must be academic subjects) * Academic requirements: Good knowledge of Standard Chinese * Additional requirements: Letter of motivation, if applicable, admission examination * For international applicants: Officially certified copies of relevant certificates, diplomas and other documentation issued overseas, with officially certified translations of any original documents not in German, English or French * For applicants from China: APS certification required, and all documents must be certified and stamped by a Chinese notary

🗣 Dil Gereksinimleri

* English: C1 level according to the CEFR * Chinese: Good knowledge of Standard Chinese * German: Proof of proficiency at level B2 (CEFR) only required for certain focuses partly taught in German: History, Economics, and Political Science for beginners. Not required for English and American Studies, Development Economics and International Studies, Political Science for advanced students, and Sinology which are exclusively taught in English
