The Lehramt Erweiterungsfach leads to a further teaching qualification for a teaching position at public schools. The qualification is only valid in conjunction with a successfully completed Erstes Staatsexamen für das Lehramt or an equivalent qualification. Chemie (Chemistry) deals with the structure, the characteristics, and the transformation of chemical substances. In the course of their studies, prospective teachers acquire the ability to give their students insight into the material composition of nature and the corresponding material processes. The specialist knowledge required here comprises the areas of General Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and handling hazardous substances. The program consists of 80 credit points.
