The Medicine program is the science and practical application of healing arts in Germany and is a prerequisite for working as a physician. The study focuses on the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of physical and mental illnesses. Students learn about body functions and mental-spiritual characteristics of humans, providing first aid, diagnosing and treating diseases, considering influences of family, society, and environment on health, healthcare organization, patient interaction, and reflecting on ethical principles of medical practice. The program at the University Medical Center of JGU offers a diverse education with over 60 clinics, institutes, and departments, providing a close integration of healthcare practice with research and teaching. The program is structured in three major sections: the preclinical study section (1st-4th semester), the clinical study section (5th-10th semester), and the practical year (11th-12th semester), each concluding with a medical examination.
