📋 Program Hakkında

The Master in Economics is a comprehensive full-time program that combines application and research oriented courses with a special emphasis on empirical methods. About 150 students are currently enrolled in the M.Sc. Economics programme, the largest English-language master's programme at the Trier University. The programme was recently ranked by the renowned CHE (Centre for Higher Education) as being one of three top Economics master's programmes in Germany. The curriculum consists of (1) compulsory modules, (2) specialization modules, and (3) elective modules, concluding with a Master Thesis. During the first semester of studies, the students take courses in Advanced Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, and Econometrics that provide a solid foundation for the following two semesters of field courses. In the specialization modules (second and third semester), students shape their profiles by choosing courses from six different areas. If courses amounting to at least 30 CPs are taken, the corresponding specialization is noted on the master's certificate. By their respective choice of field courses, students can either specialize in Political Economy, Labor Markets, Finance, Social Security and Health Systems, or Empirical Analysis. Most courses have a strong focus on international and in particular European topics. Depending on the chosen specialization, students are also required to take courses from related departments, such as statistics, political science, business administration, or sociology, thus making the master's programme truly interdisciplinary. In the fourth semester, the students write their master thesis. The program also offers a Double Degree Option, either at University of Warsaw or University of Bergamo.

* Proof of a Bachelor's degree with a grade of 2.9 or better in an economics degree programme, or * Proof of a Bachelor's degree with a grade of 2.5 or better in another degree programme which includes at least 60 credit points (one third of the assessed coursework) in the fields of economics, mathematics and/or statistics
