📋 Program Hakkında

This course covers the most important printing techniques for reproducing print templates on various substrates, including letterpress, planographic printing (e.g., offset printing), intaglio printing, screen printing, xerography (black and white/color laser printing), inkjet printing, and 3D printing. Lesser-known techniques such as risography, flexography, and pad printing are also presented in basic terms. Although different methods are used in all printing techniques to transfer printing ink to a substrate, the main task must remain the transport of communication and artistic ideas. The course emphasizes all procedures equally from the perspective of optimal implementation, using the university's facilities and workshops to gain tangible experience and highlight differences. The course focus is on parameter development to recognize the different possibilities for desired realization of print media and to optimally implement one's own design concept. Brief historical treatments help to understand the techniques applied by artists from past and present in the context of technical possibilities and contemporary taste, facilitating the selection of a specific technique for one's own work. The course is conducted in collaboration with Marko Zenz and Jörg Markwardt.
