The Bachelor of Music in Conducting program at Hochschule für Musik Detmold offers two specializations: Orchestra Conducting and Choir Conducting. Students are trained to become competent, independent artistic personalities capable of working with orchestras, instrumental ensembles, or vocal ensembles of different stylistic orientations at a high professional level. The program develops skills in interpretation, rehearsal methodology, and conducting expression. Students learn to work with ensembles of different levels and ages, acquire differentiated expertise and stylistic sensitivity regarding various genres and epochs, and become familiar with fundamental aspects of concert organization and implementation. The curriculum includes core subjects like conducting, music theory, ear training, musicology, and instrumental studies, with additional elective options for specialization.
