The Digital Product Design and Development program focuses on networked, digital and intelligent products. Students learn to network products via the internet and ensure they communicate with each other. The program covers robotics, artificial intelligence, and user expertise. Students spend most of their time in the Prototyping Lab, Media Lab, and workshops, working with technologies like 3D printers, sensors, actuators, and microcontrollers (Arduino and Raspberry Pi). The program has four main areas of specialization: Spatial Technologies (smart home concepts, fixed technologies), Portable Media (mobile technologies that communicate with each other), Physical Computing (hardware development), and User-centered design (ensuring usability). Graduates can work as UX-Designers, Creative Developers, Creative Coders, or Front-end Developers in engineering and design offices, development departments, future laboratories, and companies in the media and information industry.
